How-to guides

Step-by-step walkthroughs for daily operations.

Running daily dispatch+
  1. 1Open the dispatch dashboard at the start of the day to see all scheduled and unassigned jobs.
  2. 2Review unassigned jobs first — check priority, location, and any customer notes.
  3. 3Assign crew members based on availability, skill match, and route proximity.
  4. 4Track job status throughout the day as technicians update from the field.
  5. 5End of day: review completed jobs, flag any that need follow-up or billing action.
Sending customer updates+
  1. 1Navigate to the job you want to update the customer about.
  2. 2Choose a channel: SMS or email — based on the customer's preference.
  3. 3Compose your message manually, or use a template based on the current job status.
  4. 4Review the draft and approve before sending.
  5. 5The update is logged on the job timeline so your whole team has context.
Creating invoices and change orders+
  1. 1Open a completed or in-progress job and select "Create invoice" or "Create change order."
  2. 2Add line items with descriptions, quantities, and pricing.
  3. 3For change orders: note what changed from the original scope and why.
  4. 4Send for internal approval if your team uses approval workflows.
  5. 5Once approved, send directly to the customer through their preferred channel.
Managing recurring service routes+
  1. 1Set up a service route with the customer locations and visit frequency.
  2. 2Assign default crews so the same technicians handle familiar sites.
  3. 3Novara auto-creates jobs on schedule — your dispatcher just reviews and confirms.
  4. 4Field techs see their schedule on iOS with each stop, timing, and job details for the day.
  5. 5Completed visits feed directly into billing so nothing gets missed.
